Family Learning Courses

Free face-to-face Family Learning Courses at Singlewell Primary School

After the success of our first Family Learning course held at Singlewell we are pleased to be holding two more Family Learning courses this year.

Family First Aid

In Term 4 we will be holding a Family First Aid Course. It will be held across three Friday mornings and you must be available to attend all of these sessions. The course is run by Kent Family Learning, a part of Kent Adult Education. It will require practical participation. Unfortunately, due to it's practical nature, pre-school age children and babies are not able to attend.

It will be held in our school sports hall with refreshments provided. Come along to expand your knowledge and learn some new skills in a friendly environment.

Open to all parents, carers and family members. Please speak to, or email, Mrs Hazeldene to confirm your attendance.

'Stepping Up' into Secondary School

Later in Term 5 we will be holding a workshop, specifically aimed at our Year 6 parents, to support their understanding around the expectations of Secondary School life and how to support their child through this transition.

The course is run by Kent Family Learning, a part of Kent Adult Education.

It will be held in our school sports hall with refreshments provided.

Open to all parents, carers and family members of Year 6 pupils. Please speak to, or email, Mrs Hazeldene to confirm your attendance.

Exploring Behaviour Strategies

On Monday 10th February 2025 we had our first Family Learning course held at Singlewell Primary School. A group of parents and carers came together with Carrie-Ann, our Family Learning Providor and Mrs Hazeldene, our school SENCO to develop their understanding of behaviour and to learn behaviour strategies to add to their parent toolkit.

Hear from our parents and carers who were in attendance:

" A very good session with lots of information."

"Great detailed explanations of child behaviours. I hope to attend more courses like this."

"I found today's course quite good as both the SENCo and course teacher had lots of good ideas, resources and approaches to consider trying when facing challenging behaviours from my child. I have learnt about recognising emotional cues and how to support them to regulate. "

"This workshop was very informative. The Tutor was very engaging."

"Helpful tips to try at home."
